Privacy
This notice covers cterry.dev and every project on its subdomains. The short version: no accounts, no ads, no cookies, nothing sold, and the only thing counted is anonymous page views on some of the sites. Updated 2026-11-04.
Who runs these sites
Caleb Terry, an individual in the United States, runs them and is responsible for this data. Questions or requests: message me on X.
Site by site
- This portfolio (cterry.dev)
Counts anonymous page views.
- Tools (tools.cterry.dev)
Counts anonymous page views, by path only: anything after the ? is dropped first, because some tools keep what you typed in the address. Everything you type, drop in or capture with the camera or microphone is processed in your browser and never uploaded. Pins, drafts and settings you choose to keep sit in your browser's local storage, and a service worker caches pages so they work offline. The font previewer loads fonts from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address, only after you press the button that asks.
- Overkill (overkill.cterry.dev)
Counts anonymous page views and how fast pages load (Vercel Speed Insights), plus a few clicks: sharing, printing, the random button, the gallery filter and source links, each recorded only with the page and, for a source, the website it points to. A light or dark mode you pick is saved in your browser.
- Pocket Worlds (worlds.cterry.dev)
Counts nothing.
- Marble Run (marbles.cterry.dev)
Counts nothing. The run you build is saved in your browser so it is there next time.
What a page view records
The counting is done by Vercel Web Analytics, and on Overkill also Speed Insights. Neither sets cookies or stores anything on your device. Each view records the page, the site that linked you, your country and region, and your browser, operating system and device type; Speed Insights adds how long the page took to load. Vercel tells repeat views apart with a hash of the request that it throws away after 24 hours. Your IP address is not stored, and I only ever see totals.
The reason is to see which projects people use, so I know what to improve. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)), and you can object at any time.
Hosting
Every site is hosted by Vercel, Inc. in the United States, which processes this data for me under its data processing agreement and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension. Like any web host, Vercel keeps short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, to run and protect the service. I don't use them to identify anyone.
Opting out
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, none of the sites count your visits. Otherwise, press “Don't count my visits” at the bottom of any page on a site that counts; the choice is remembered in that site's local storage, so each site has its own switch. Content blockers that block analytics also work, and every site behaves the same without it.
Why there is no cookie banner
Consent banners exist for cookies and storage that track you or that you didn't ask for. These sites use neither: the counting stores nothing on your device, and what is kept in your browser is only what you asked a site to keep.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of personal data, object to its use, and complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO; in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). Because page views are anonymous and nothing else is collected, there is usually nothing on file that could be tied to you.
